Artist Statement

I begin to make art, arrangements. For the exhibition. December of 2022.

As volunteer at the. Creative scrap in ypsilanti Michigan.
What is interesting about the art work of winter of 2022. That it motivated me to go further into the creative world of arts and culture.
My narrative was when i was volunteering at the. Creative scrap in Ypsilanti Michigan.
The creative scrap also has classes and employment opportunities.
Getting back to my statement.
I felt like i had done the right thing.
By volunteering.
It motivated me to try something new and different.
By taking a snap shot of when i was, volunteering and my assignment was checking, ink pens markers.
On a scrap sheet of paper.
After i had ran out of checking ink pens and magic markers.
I took a nap shot the different markings on the scrap paper.
I have the original snap shot of the markings stored in my photo app in my cell phone.
Google corigrafted the snap shot with music in the background.
I also edited and filtered the snap shot. And Google corigrafted where i had edited and filtered the snap shot.
Artist Bio
I have had the love for art at a very young age. I remember at age of six years old or younger.
Taking paper from a notebook pad.
And drawings scratches of houses.
On the note book pad.
That was some sixty years ago.
Beginning of elementary school.
First second third grade.

The teacher. Mrs Everett was my teacher at the time.
We did a project on copper metal jury. We had a fireing kiln in the class room setting. I remember having a copper metal jury, that looks like a necklace 🥶 combination and placing different colors of glaze on the round necklace and fireing necklace in the kiln. There was other projects that we used Styrofoam sheets from meat packs. And we made ⛵ from the Styrofoam..
One pacific thing was that the school year seemed just not that long ago.
I went on to, Jr high School.
I don’t remember much about art even though i attended Jr high School for three years.
Mostly sports basketball, football, and track in field.
On Senior High School.
Freshman year, Junior year and  Senior year.
Pottery wheel throwing.
Cylinders was one of the projects.
That was required to be completed for your grade. Other assignments were on the throwing wheel.
We’re 🥣 plates coffee ☕ mugs.
In our graphic design class.
We had. Silk screen projects.
For. T-shirt 👕 and for what ever you want to place your designs on.
Also in the graphic design class.
It was a. AB Dick printing machine.
The instructor.
Thought the class how to print programs for new letters and sports events.
After i graduate from. High School.

From the Gallery Manager

2022-2023 is comprised of artist Terry Frye’s abstract work and reflects the artist’s creative journey over the past two years.

The pieces featuring acrylic paint on foamcore board sway slightly upon the passing of a viewer, illustrating the impact of external observation. Computer- and smart phone-altered hand drawn sketches mirror the intersection of analog and digital techniques.

Over the past several years, I’ve seen Terry’s work evolve into an expressive and energetic array of abstracted work that invite the viewer to engage deeply and introspectively. They’re curious and intrguiging, much like the artist himself.
