Adaptive Technology Program

21st Century Assistive Technology

Assistive Technology (AT) refers to items that make learning, working, and independent living easier for people with disabilities. Since so many of our usual activities are now taking place online, access to the internet has become a crucial part of everyday living. That’s why 21st Century Assistive Technology is here to help you with getting online, using your device, and making it accessible to you!

Device Accessibility

Your smartphone, computer, or other device may already have the accessibility tools you are looking for! From increasing the text size to enabling voice control, our staff will walk you through your options and help set up the ones that are right for you.

Help with Apps and Programs

DNWML consumers can get assistance with using Zoom, word processors, and other tools they may need to participate in our programs and services.

AT Lab

Our AT lab currently has 3 laptops (one Windows, one Mac, and one Chromebook), an Android tablet, and a variety of assistive technology tools. Our computers are available for use every Wednesday from 11:00am-3:00pm and may be available at other times by appointment.

Disclaimer(s):

DNWML periodically receives donations of AT devices or internet communication technologies like laptops. These are first-come, first-serve opportunities and a type of device that is available at one time is not guaranteed to be available in the future. Applications for devices will be reviewed by DNWML staff prior to donating them to a potential applicant.

DNWML staff are not licensed tech support professionals and will refer your concerns to experienced technicians when we cannot address an issue.
