Eleven artists share work that speaks to their disability experiences at a disability-centered gallery space, during Disability Pride month and our annual Americans with Disabilities Act Picnic.
This show includes 2D works, sculpture, culinary art, and performance.

Goddess is flat layers of glazing acrylic paint on canvas in bright hues of pinks, yellows, oranges, mauve gold rose tones and black outlining of facial or hair features on figures. Surface is smooth to touch. The painting has spherical embodiments of a circle within a circle of rounded figures encasing somber faces. The background is of light pink tone with the main focal figural focus being centered or enveloping in and out of the surrounding spheres.

Multi figural forms set upon a fire background with each rising out of the heated relm. Bold colors of reds, oranges, blues juxtaposition amongst the varying figural forms. This painting is heavily textural by use of a matte gel mixed into acrylic to create an impasto like feel. The central blue abstracted figure frontally stands tall with swirling half spheres winding and flowing about in a watery motion.

disability. It made school much harder. When I found accessible technology it made a huge difference. It allowed me to listen and follow along as it highlighted each word and sentence. I’m better at reading than I used to be. But progress does not make a disability go away. We need to stop judging people on what they can or can’t do.”
